I joined the army when I was 18, and directly moved to Germany, where you can drink at 18. So 2 and a half years I spent in Germany sampling various beers and marrying one of the various women, I am spoiled.
Last week I went thru about 3 20-racks of beer. We have a Zoigl brewery not far from here, they make some fantastically good beers there. Crystal, hefe, pils, zoigl, stout, lager, ale.. .whatever, I love them all Also a Masshole here.. I am a devout US patriot. So much I bought stock in Sam Adams, lol. But yeah, I will go to the Getranke shop later and get 5 or 10 different beers I haven't tried, and 10 I love, for the makings of a nice, relaxed weekend. e

I never thought I would enjoy a beer that was in a green bottle. I hate Heineken. Abhor it actually. But because I'm of German heritage, my Italian mother-in-law insists that I like this kind of beer.
Crazy Italians. But I digress.... I really enjoy Yuengling. It's pretty much replaced Sam Adams as my home beer, except the Summer Ale. But one beer I will never EVER turn my back on is Hacker-Pschoor Weiss. I usually don't drink with groceries, but a nice slice of lemon in a Weiss after working in the yard for a couple of hours is really refreshing. Or just as my freshly ground hamburger is coming off the grill with a nicely butter toasted bun on the side. Or even a nice juicy thick steak after working in the yard for 3 hours. I haven't looked in the past years, but I may have to call ahead to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburgh TN and see if any of the distributors down there carry Hacker-Pschoor. We have a few beer connoisseurs in the Dragon Wolves. If I was driving down I'd be bringing a case from NY.

Leinies never agreed with my colon. Which is to say that every time I drank it, I was in the bathroom within 5 minutes of my first sip.

Guinness/Murphys (never in a bottle or can!)
Sam Adams triple Bock and good ol Boston lager, black lager, brown Ale, ok so mostly all of them Smithwicks in a pinch Boddingtons ale And one I cant find anywhere except at beer festivals, habenero beer. Yeah, thats right. Not sure who makes it tho. Also sick of the west coasts obsession with ipa's! But to each their own. |

Long ago I remember a Cave Creek Chili Beer with a jalapeno in the bottom, not sure if it related to that habenaro beer or not. LOVE's me some West Coast IPA's and Double IPA's. Russian River Brewing's "Pliny the Elder" is tops Lagunitas' "Hop Stoopid" and "IPA" and "Little sump'n sump'n" + others Bear Republic "Racer 5" and "Racer X" Others of course, like the (California Coors) - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale When out to eat if they don't have the local stuff I will get a Fat Tire, or Sam Adams. If Mexican food then a Negra Modelo (had it on tap for the first time the other day holy shit good stuff sooo much better than the bottle). |

Smithwick's Irish Ale is my #1, with Guinness a close second.
From my time in Wisconsin I grew to like Spotted Cow. When I'm in my home state of Texas I drink Shiner. When I want something a bit different I prefer Hoegaarden. And here in Seattle there's a little local brewery called the Black Raven that has an awesome IPA. In fact all their beers are great. Love the Raven. I'll drink just about anything alcoholic, but those are the beers I prefer. Last edited by Malorn; 2012-06-12 at 12:13 AM. |

I am sad I did not get to enjoy some Black Raven beers when I was recently in Seattle for Lock & Load. I did manage to drink some tasty beers at Elephant & Castle, Brouwers, and a couple other fave places.
