Still no Planetside successor :(

I use to love the game, but it's remarkable that after 4.5 years there's no other game like PS planned, that I know of.

Today, PS is far, far too small for my tastes. In the first year of the game not only were there thousands of players online during peak hours on each server, but the population caps per continent were much higher. The size of the battles was stunning-- you'd see literally hundreds of guys run from one base to another.

With multi-core processor now standard, the cpu cycles are definitely there to solve the rendering issues with such large and complex field of views.

I've not played any other game more than a few days since I quit PS over two years ago. Games like WoW are too regimented and automatic, and Quake-style first person shooters offer nothing novel but eye candy.

Forget Tabula Rasa. It's crap.

Someday a true successor to PS will arrive, and I'll be there!

Yup. SOE screwed up. PlanetSide was probably the best game I have ever played. I have never had so much fun playing any game, ever.

I came back during reserves and I played for maybe an hour before realizing how depressing it was.

I would be all over a PlanetSide 2 as long as SOE didn't screw it up.

I agree here... I played about 2 years ago, and things were good (not as good as they used to be i used to hear) but now, I check it out again, and theres like 50 people playing.

Man the batttles used to be HUGE!!!!!! some of the battles I fought were so chaotic and crazy and just plain fun.

Now its looking as if i could pwn an entire map by myself.

this saddens me, I want PS restored to its former glory.

The server merge won't be a cure-all, but I bet that, coupled with a new Reserves program, will inject a little more life into the game.

I've re-subbed and I still am having a blast!

That being said, what is the next supposed PS-killer on the horizon? Huxley?

Agreed, Tabla Rasa was a disappointment.

Lets face it we need a planetside two thats the only fix. It has not been worth the effort to try and establish any armor support for years. It was great back in the day and always a challenge, now everytime I return I see fewer and fewer old faces. I hope that this is not the end of this type of game.

We need someone with too much money to buy the game from SOE and turn it back into a warfare game.

How would you make Planetside 2 different? Better graphics doesn't mean better gameplay, and frankly the graphics in planetside aren't that bad. Maybe a new expanion that overhauls the graphics engine or puts a new spin on it is all that's required.

Exactly. Updating the graphics engine to at least DirectX 9, then maybe providing some new content. Of course, that's no small feat, and with each passing week, less and less people are playing and the possibility of doing it and turning a profit becomes smaller and smaller.
